The drawings I'm exhibiting here can be read sequentially as a kind of mini-book, within a book.
In January of 2009 I began a project called "Art Bum Comics" which I have variously described as an Online graphic sequential novel and a meta-fictional sketchbook. The art bum is a marginal artistwho is about to lose his day job and is thinking about art and value and culture in general. He writes and draws in cheap memo books and sketchbooks and posts his notes on his blog. I selected ten pages that I think form a sequence that, taken together, say something and, maybe show something about our time. The original drawings were done on 6 x 4 inch memo book pages. I scanned them and enlarged them and printed them out, and then I traced and redrew them on 9x12 inch acid-free sketchbook paper. They are drawings of drawings. I even drew the torn holes on the side of the memo pages (which echo the actual torn holes of the sketchbook paper).
